Many of our Candidates are teachers, psychologists, caregivers, trained in the education or hold professional nanny qualifications. They have an understanding of child development, recognize the importance of providing stimulating activities for children, catering to their individual needs and interests. They love what they do!

OUR CRITERIA:

  • Minimum of 2 years childcare/teaching experience + professional qualifications or a minimum of 3 years childcare/teaching experience + excellent references.
  • Minimum of 2 (contactable) childcare references.
  • Minimum of 1 (contactable) personal reference.
  • Police Check (Criminal Record Check) - or willing to undertake one.
  • Current First Aid Qualifications - or willing to undertake one.
  • Professional, hardworking, confident and flexible attitude.
  • Friendly disposition and genuine interest in nurturing and educating children.
  • Committed to creating a safe, inviting and stimulating environment for the children.

PLACEMENT PROCESS

REGISTRATION

If you would like to join Miss Governess International team, you are required to complete Candidate’s Registration Form (you'll download it from here: REGISTER) and attach all required documents. You must meet our requirements and have relevant job history and experience to go on to the next step in our screening process. If your application meets our standards, we will contact you to arrange an interview with one of our recruitment consultants.

SKYPE INTERVIEW

During Skype interview, we would like to understand better your childcare experience, expectations, and preferences, to fully understand who you are and what type of family you would work best with. Upon a successful completion of the interview, we will move on to professional childcare reference check.

REFERENCE CHECK

We conduct over the phone reference checks from your childcare employers. You are required to supply us with contact information to at least one personal referrer who is not related to you and have known you for at least five years. We will call your personal referrer and ask several detailed questions to understand your personality and character better.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK AND CREDENTIALS VERIFICATION

The Agency will perform a thorough background check that includes a Police Check (Criminal Record Check) and a driving record check (if the position requires driving). All copies of relevant certificates, qualifications, and examinations that are on file are thoroughly verified.

FACE-TO-FACE INTERVIEW

We would love to meet all our shortlisted Candidates in person. However, we understand in some cases the distance might be an issue, in such case 2nd Skype interview will be arranged. During in-person interview, we would like to check your knowledge in practical emergency situations, problem-solving and organizational skills.

FAMILY INTERVIEW

The final decision of employment offer lies within the family, not Agency. You may be interviewed by the family either over the phone, via Skype or in person. We help set up the interview. We listen carefully to all your concerns and review your impression. If you don’t feel comfortable with the family, you may of course reject the offer! We keep on searching for your perfect fit!

PSYCHOLOGICAL AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT TESTS

Some parents additionally require their chosen candidate to complete psychological and child development knowledge tests. Our Agency is using only appropriate, standardized Psychometric Testing oriented towards childcare and designed to be used with caregivers.  Our test assesses caregiver’s emotional stability under stress, the level of maturity, red flags such as drug or alcohol addictions, psychological disorders.

CONTRACT

When the family decides to offer you the job, and you feel comfortable with the job conditions and requirements we can help draft a work agreement to make sure no key consideration has been overlooked. You will represent Miss Governess Agency, so separate agreement between the Agency and you will be required too. Once you have accepted the offer, you are directly employed by the family.

TRAINING

The Agency will provide professional briefing preparing you thoroughly to how to carry out the contracted duties to the best of your abilities, using initiative, enthusiasm, and creativity at all times. We want to be sure your transition into new working environment runs seamlessly.

POST-PLACEMENT SUPPORT

After the placement, we contact you to assess the working relationship. We offer post-placement 24h support, so whatever your concerns. We will always be here to help you! This final step is very important to us, it makes us proud and assures us we did a really great job!
